Help, I’ve become lazy…

Daily writing prompt
What technology would you be better off without, why?

Technology? hmmm…. I’d say, anything that removes me/us from taking responsibility for our/my actions (or lack thereof). In many ways, our society has become lazy and lost… we don’t have to think, reason, or even work hard with our hands. Our solution to just about every crises of belief, academic question, actual problem solving, ect., is to just ask Google, Siri, or get AI’s solution… Results: we’ve stopped dreaming, we’ve stopped caring, we’ve stopped feeling, we’ve become a cold unloving people. We cause harm through our words (Social Networking) and cancel those with whom we disagree. Virtual relationships replace real ones – why? they’re easier, they fulfill whatever desire I have…

I’m not against technology… I’m so grateful for all that it has/can provide… But I do see how it can change the very essence of a person’s perceived value. Your value is in God’s purpose and design for you. Your value is found in living out that purpose (for which only you can do) – you are so unique, so beautiful, so creative, so strong, so graceful, so capable. I encourage you to put down your phone, take your watch off – and just go outside for a moment, look around, take a deep breath… see the wonder of all creation… pick up some dirt/grass, grab a shovel, etc. and just bask in just simply being you. Take the time tonight to go outside and look up… Don’t just see the stars… ponder the distance between them and be left in AWE of the One who spoke them into place. My dear friends, you are loved by God… you are seen by God… you matter to Him…

So, I guess at the end of the day… I wouldn’t want to do away with any technology. I would simply want to make sure that I didn’t (and you didn’t) find my/your identity or get my/your value from it. Be blessed, DrJ
